About Tring Park School

Mission statement

“To provide the best combined vocational and academic education in the UK.”

Academics

Tring Park School for Performing Arts provides a curriculum that gives students a well-rounded education in which performance and academics are combined. Prep School students receive an education that emphasises the arts and creativity, boosting their confidence to prepare them for Secondary School.

From Year 7 onwards, the school allows students to specialise in Dance of Performance Foundation before being given the option to take Dance, Commercial Music, Musical Theatre or Acting at Sixth Form. Staff are able to advise students on pursuing a career in performance as well as the equally important backstage roles that are integral to any production. In 2021, the school boasted a 97.6% pass rate for all exams sat, with 98% of GCSE students passing 5 or more subjects.

Activities & sports

Outside of academia, school life at Tring Park focuses almost entirely on the performing arts. School pupils have busy days filled with practice, training and lessons. The productions that they put on gives students valuable experience and opportunities to perform on stage or take part in production design, lighting, sound or stage management. Tring Park also provides fun activities throughout the year which take place after school and at the weekend for boarders. These activities include craft workshops, bake-offs, shopping trips to London, theme parks and sporting activities.

Additionally, the school provides summer courses for both boarding and day students.

International student community

Tring welcomes students from all over the world, with approximately 10% of Tring Park’s 300-400 students coming from outside of the UK, from places such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Thailand and mainland Europe. Tring Park has a fully equipped English as an Additional Language (EAL) department, within which students usually receive one-to-one lessons.

Boarding life

60% of students are boarders living in one of three boarding houses, each with a full-time senior Housemaster or Housemistress who leads a team of staff who work hard to create a nurturing environment. Accommodation is organised by year and gender in an environment designed to foster creativity. Students can sign up for weekend activities and trips as well as extra-curricular events throughout the week.
