Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
The King's School Canterbury in Kent, England.
"To be a leading school where pupils are inspired to achieve academic excellence, develop strong values, and contribute meaningfully to society."
The King’s School Canterbury offers a broad and well-rounded academic programme based on GCSEs and A Levels. Pupils are encouraged to work hard, think independently, and take pride in their learning. Alongside the core curriculum, there are additional opportunities such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and IELTS preparation for international students.
Academic achievement is a central part of school life, and results are consistently strong. Most pupils go on to study at leading universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, other Russell Group institutions, and top universities in the US and Europe.
The school combines high expectations with strong support, helping students to reach their potential and take the next step with confidence.
Pupils at The King’s School Canterbury have access to a wide range of extracurricular opportunities beyond the classroom. Whether it’s music, drama, debating, the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, there’s something to suit every interest and level of experience.
Sport is an important part of school life. Pupils are encouraged to take part, whether they’re aiming for high-level competition or playing for enjoyment. Teams regularly compete at regional and national level in sports such as rugby, hockey, cricket, rowing, athletics, and more. The school’s excellent facilities support both participation and performance across all age groups.
The King’s School Canterbury is home to a diverse and welcoming international community, with pupils from over 40 countries making up around 20–25% of the student body. This diversity brings a broad range of perspectives and experiences to school life.
International pupils are well supported throughout their time at King’s. Specialist EAL (English as an Additional Language) staff provide tailored support, including IELTS preparation and help with academic English. Integration programmes and pastoral care ensure that pupils feel part of the school community, both in the classroom and beyond.
Around 80% of pupils at The King’s School Canterbury are boarders, living in one of 13 boarding houses. Each house provides comfortable accommodation, dedicated study areas, and strong pastoral support, helping pupils feel at home and well looked after.
Boarders enjoy a lively evening and weekend programme, with a mix of trips, social events, and activities. They also have regular access to the school’s facilities, including the sports centre, theatre, and music school, making it easy to stay active and involved outside the classroom.
You'll probably have many questions about the exciting times that lie ahead. We are here to reassure you and support your decision to educate your child in the UK.
