Rishworth takes pride in its academic curriculum, with its small class sizes and above-average hours spent in the classroom ensuring students to receive outstanding examination results. In 2022, 80% of A Level grades were A*-C and almost 50% of grades were A*-A, a consistent trend over the past three years. BTEC and vocational qualifications, saw a 100% pass rate, with 93% of students attaining the highest possible grades in Sport, Food Science and Nutrition, and Drama.
At GCSE level, nearly 90% of exams were passed with grades 4-9, with almost a quarter of results at grades 7-9. Grade 4-9 pass rates in Science were 30% higher than the national average and 100% of humanities subjects were passed with top grades.
The school also offers a pre-A Level diploma to help students develop their love of learning and gain a place at to some of the UK's best universities.
Rishworth offers students a diverse enrichment programme, with around 120 co-curricular activities on offer. Enrichment activities range from coding club and sign language to various arts and sports groups.
The school prides itself in sporting excellence, offering rugby, cricket and badminton academies. At least 10% of Rishworth's pupils represent club-level, regional or national teams across a range of disciplines including Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Dressage, Athletics, Swimming, Netball, Tennis, Dance, Football and Badminton. The school has their own Rishworth International Football Academy (RIFA), open to both boys and girls from the age of 12, allowing students to train under top-quality football coaches.
Furthermore, the school offers exciting trips and expeditions to destinations such as Paris and Sorrento.
With 75% of the boarding community at Rishworth School made up of overseas students, the Rishworth boarding experience is truly international. This promotes tolerance and understanding as students are constantly mixing with different cultures and world views. The school provides English for Academic Purposes, enabling non-fluent English speakers the opportunity to take the IELTS, which opens doors for students to progress to English-speaking universities.
Rishworth works hard to ensure that the student boarding experience at their school is comfortable and safe. Upon arrival, boarders will enter a strong and tight-knit community in which they will quickly find their place. Boarding staff are available at any hour to cater to students’ needs, with 24-hour medical cover to tend to any immediate health issues. With afterschool and weekend activities readily available, there is always plenty for boarders to do.
