About Repton School

Mission statement

“Instilling in our pupils the rigour, attitude and skills they will need to thrive, not just survive, in today's volatile, complex world.”

Academics

Students at Repton study for GCSE and A Level qualifications. The school sees consistent academic success and in 2021, 64% of Upper Sixth pupils were awarded an A* or A at A Level.

Repton School has an impressive list of university destinations, with leavers going on to study at a number of Russell Group universities such as Durham, Edinburgh and Kings College as well as Oxford and Cambridge. The school also sees several students continue to American universities when they leave Repton. Repton provides a great deal of personalised support for students and have an expert member of staff to support international students with university applications.

Activities & sports

Sport is a central part of life at Repton School. Over 80% of students represent Repton in at least one sport, and every pupil takes part in sport at least three times per week. The school is home to a multi-million-pound sports centre where students can make use extensive of facilities including netball and squash courts, a 25m indoor swimming pool, and 12 outdoor tennis courts. One of their core sports is football - open to boys and girls. Repton is committed to increasing the provisions and opportunities for girls' football, and has a highly experienced female football coach.

Creative arts are also encouraged and celebrated at Repton. Three large-scale productions take place every year and Repton’s concert hall offers a fantastic setting for other concerts throughout the year. Students will also have opportunities to take part in dance, drama, photography, and fine art.

International student community

Repton believes that their international students enhance the school by bringing an important global outlook to a British education. Individual needs are assessed at the beginning of the academic year so that pupils can reach their full potential. All overseas pupils will be assessed to determine whether or not they may benefit from extra English lessons. One-to-one EAL (English as an Additional Language) lessons can be arranged, and international pupils will also have access to weekly drop-in EAL sessions in the evenings.

Boarding life

Boarders make up around 70% of Repton’s pupils, so the boarding community makes up a central part of the school. There are ten houses, each home to around 60 pupils. In-house dining is an important part of boarding at Repton – pupils, teachers and staff eat together in their boarding house every day. This allows pupils to bond with other students in their house, and form positive relationships with staff. Weekends are made up of social events and trips to local areas, but students will also have time to relax in their house.
