Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
Queenswood School in Hertfordshire, England.
“To offer an excellent education, through a broad curriculum, and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities. To promote the happiness and self-esteem of pupils, to foster a love of learning, enquiry and debate and to promote international, cultural and political understanding.”
Queenswood school approaches learning in a personalised way in which girls can receive tailored support depending on their needs. 1 to 1 teacher-pupil time is available for high achievers who want to reach their full potential and students who could benefit from extra academic support. There are 27 subjects available for girls to choose between at A Level. Girls at Queenswood perform well in exams - in 2023, 57% of A Level grades were A* - B. Pupils continue on to top UK universities such as Cambridge, St Andrews and Imperial College, London as well as universities in the USA.
The range of sports at Queenswood is extensive and all students are encouraged to participate. Just some of the options include tennis, hockey, netball, fencing, golf and horse riding. Drama and dance are also popular activities, with around eight shows taking place each year.
There are plenty of opportunities for students interested in music too as the school offers a variety of choirs, orchestras and ensemble groups which regularly take part in European music tours.
Queenswood prides itself on fostering a supportive international community. Around 15% of students are international boarders. Additional English language support is available to international students. If required, students can receive individual language tuition as well as collaborative sessions with other pupils.
50% of all Queenswood students make up their busy boarding community. These are full, weekly and flexi boarders. Depending on their age, girls will either share a bedroom or have their own single study bedroom.
Queenswood aims to build a home-from-home for their students, with shared communal spaces for pupils to spend time together. Alongside regularly planned activities such as crazy golf, theatre trips, theme park visits and shopping, pupils will have the opportunity to take part in regular weekend trips to London, Oxford and Brighton. You'll probably have many questions about the exciting times that lie ahead.
