Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
Junior King's Canterbury Prep School in Kent, England.
“The school aims to be inclusive and caring through a creative, skills-based education, encourage all pupils to reach their potential and to develop their physical, social, spiritual, cultural and intellectual life. It seeks to nurture individual talents and interests, fostering a love of learning so that pupils move on as respectful and resilient, fully prepared for the next stage in their education.”
Junior King’s offers students a wide range of subjects from art and drama to science and maths. Music is central to school life, with over 300 instrument lessons provided each week by over 28 music teachers; children are encouraged to join a variety of choirs and instrument ensembles. Many subjects offer school trips to enhance students’ learning and bring subjects to life. Specialist ICT, drama and science laboratories, as well as a Forest School, further strengthen children's learning. The school offers a Learning Support Department, which supports pupils with additional educational needs and provides English as an Additional Language support for non-native English-speaking pupils.
The school provides a wealth of activities for students to enjoy. Twenty-two acres of sports facilities, including an athletics track, cricket squares and pitches for rugby, hockey, football and lacrosse, as well as an outdoor swimming pool, sports hall and tennis courts, ensure children can participate in a wide range of sports.
There are ample opportunities for students to get involved with the creative and performing arts, encouraging creativity and improving children’s confidence. Students can take part in a range of choirs and orchestras, as well as drama and dance groups. Students produce outstanding results in LAMDA and Trinity examinations and have the opportunity to participate in school productions. Other afterschool activities range from and Award-Winning History Club to Horse Riding and Mandarin. The vast co-curricular activities programme means there is something for every student.
The school seeks to foster an inclusive school community, welcoming students from a variety of backgrounds, including international pupils. An English as an Additional Language programme is available to students who require extra support. It is taught by the Learning Support Department, whooffer one-on-one teaching.
Boarding is at the heart of life at Junior King’s. There are two boarding houses, one for boys and one for girls, both of which exude a comfortable family atmosphere and foster a close and tight-knit community. All children are carefully supervised by the dedicated houseparents and boarding staff and have access to school facilities including an onsite Medical Centre, music rooms and sports centres. Boarding enables many students to make life-long friends and networks, opening the door for an exciting future after graduation.
You'll probably have many questions about the exciting times that lie ahead. We are here to reassure you and support your decision to educate your child in the UK.
