Lasting from two to eight weeks, short courses offer excellent opportunities to support year-round learning and maximise your child's time in the UK.

Open to children of all ages, short-term programmes help them gain new experiences and skills, as well as build confidence and make new friendships.

We'll help you pick a course aligned to your child's academic studies, or find one that lets them work on their English language skills, master a new language, or take an exam revision course to prepare them for university admissions.

When school is not in session, your child can stay with a local host family or join our group on an enriching activity and cultural excursion.

This is a unique opportunity for your child to experience an unforgettable holiday, learn new skills, or practice their favourite sport at specialty camps.

You can choose from any (or all!) of our trips such as safari and volunteering in Kenya, exploring nature in Sri Lanka, or adventures in Greece or Italy. Sports schools include skiing in Europe, golf in Scotland, surfing in Portugal, or tennis in Spain.

Thank you very much for your warm-hearted messages and great support for my daughter. I really appreciate all of that you have done for us. It was indeed an honour for us to have your outstanding support and help during her time boarding at Fettes.

Quality you can trust

Academic Families has personal and professional experience with boarding schools. Many of our staff attended boarding schools themselves when they were young or have worked in them. We have all lived overseas and most of us are mothers, so we understand how important it is to find the very best education for every child no matter where that might be in the world.

From our headquarters in Edinburgh to our local staff across the UK, our team regularly visits hundreds of British schools. Our excellent knowledge of the UK education system, accreditation by the Boarding School Association (BSA) and certification from the British Council means we understand UK boarding education from the inside and out, and know how to ensure the best education for each child.

In addition, our guardianship service has been Gold accredited by AEGIS (the Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) since 2016 and also by the BSA, so you know, with Academic Families, you're guaranteed to have the best local support anywhere in the UK.

Moreover, our team are trained MHFA Mental Health First Aiders so we are qualified to support our students with any wellbeing and mental health concerns.
