Giggleswick School offers pupils a broad and varied curriculum, within which pupils are encouraged to challenge themselves to reach their personal best. Giggleswick follows the GCSE curriculum and in final year, students have the chance to choose between A Level and BTEC examinations. One subject in which pupils are given the independence and responsibility to see through long-term projects is design and technology, within which the highest performing pupils can apply to the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship.
In 2021, 84% of A Level exam results were A* - B, 70% of pupils received an offer from a Russell Group university and 92% of pupils got a place at their first choice of university. Educational opportunities at Giggleswick School are varied and flexible, with the possibility of catering opportunities to meet students’ needs and interests.
Giggleswick School places an emphasis on the personal development and participation of its students, and there are more than 80 clubs and societies that take place each week. The school’s co-curricular programme is based on creative, active and service activities and the school has excellent facilities to provide for these activities. Giggleswick School has a 250-seat theatre, an art studio, a swimming pool, a golf course and a mountain bike trail – to name only a few.
The school aims to help pupils find their individual strengths and develop these strengths within the wide range of co-curricular opportunities. Sport is also an important aspect of life at Giggleswick School, and a number of pupils compete professionally at both a national and an international level.
International students constitute approximately 20% of the student body at Giggleswick School. Currently, these students come from 13 different countries around the world. There are English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes available to international pupils, and teachers make sure that all aspects of the school curriculum are accessible for overseas students. Giggleswick School also runs a specialist Pre-A Level programme which is designed specifically for international students.
Around 65% of students at Giggleswick School are boarders. The school has 7 boarding houses, each of which provides a welcoming environment and acts as a second home for students. There is a full school day on Saturday for all pupils, including day pupils, which means that boarding students and international pupils are always around friends.
Activities are also organised for boarders on Sundays, including trips and visits to allow them to explore more British culture.
