School profile

Founded in 1897, Saint Felix School is a thriving boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 2 to 19, with boarding available from age 11 to 19. Saint Felix prides itself on its warm, close-knit community, placing kindness at the heart of its values.

With the dynamic, progressive leadership of Mr Matthew Oakman, Saint Felix provides a distinctive and exciting education where students achieve their personal best in a nurturing, positive learning environment. Traditional values of hard work and respectfulness are held in high esteem, and rigorous academics are complemented by the total commitment of every member of staff to the individual needs, personal welfare and happiness of each student.

Excellent academic results, extensive subject options, an exceptional school culture, and a wide range of over 40 exciting co-curricular activities, including sport, music, drama and visual arts, ensure that each student enjoys and benefits from a complete education.

With a blend of modern and period buildings, our stunning 75-acre campus is located within a coastal and rural Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A 25-minute footpath connects students to the picturesque coastal town of Southwold, which offers unparalleled beach access and independent, thriving shops, as well as an 18-hole golf course, rugby and football pitches, skateboard park, lighthouse, and the famous Southwold Pier. Our campus has easy access to major airports and a frequent local train service to London. Our unique position makes Saint Felix School the best of British boarding by the sea.

We offer full, weekly and flexi boarding from age 11, with resident students accommodated in one of two single-sex Houses. Approximately 84% of our students are from the UK and our boarding houses are fully integrated with UK and international students living side by side.

Saint Felix School is a place where students flourish and are prepared for their next chapter. We, at Saint Felix, offer a heartfelt welcome and encourage you to reach out to find out what we can do for you!

We're here to help

We offer honest advice to help you find the best UK school for your child.

Our team provides exactly the kind of support for your child that we would want if we were sending our children overseas, and in fact, all of our staff have direct, personal experience with boarding schools.

We visit schools regularly and know them inside and out – the atmosphere they offer, the academic and social environment your child will be in - so we know where your child will fit in best.

Have a question?

Academic Families Director speaking to a Kazakh student

Choosing the best education for your child leads many families to consider British schools and universities. However, it is not an easy decision to make.

Our team works hard to understand the needs and strengths of your child, match them to the UK boarding school best suited to their needs, and support them throughout their time in the UK.

Quality you can trust

Academic Families has personal and professional experience with boarding schools. Many of our staff attended boarding schools themselves when they were young or have worked in them. We have all lived overseas and most of us are mothers, so we understand how important it is to find the very best education for every child no matter where that might be in the world.

From our headquarters in Edinburgh to our local staff across the UK, our team regularly visits hundreds of British schools. Our excellent knowledge of the UK education system, accreditation by the Boarding School Association (BSA) and certification from the British Council means we understand UK boarding education from the inside and out, and know how to ensure the best education for each child.

In addition, our guardianship service has been Gold accredited by AEGIS (the Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) since 2016 and also by the BSA, so you know, with Academic Families, you're guaranteed to have the best local support anywhere in the UK.

Moreover, our team are trained MHFA Mental Health First Aiders so we are qualified to support our students with any wellbeing and mental health concerns.
