Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
The Royal Ballet School in London, England.
“Our mission is to nurture, train and educate exceptional young dancers for The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and other leading UK and international companies, and to inspire the future of classical ballet training.”
Most students at The Royal Ballet School read for a degree in Classical Ballet and Dance Performance, with a small number of students taking one A Level alongside this. In 2022, 100% of students passed the degree with 1st Class Honours or Upper Second, 2:1, and all A Level students scored A* - A. At GCSE level in the same year, there was a 95% Grade 9-4 pass rate. International students have the opportunity to take exams in their home country's academic syllabus.
Students are expected to dedicate themselves to an intense, but rewarding academic and dance related curriculum, which ensures outstanding results and rewards both during and after pupils’ time in London. The school offers state of the art rehearsal and performance spaces including six dance studios, changing and shower rooms, a common room, healthcare suite and gym, Pilates studio and a physiotherapy treatment space.
Students have multiple opportunities to perform in some of the UKs best dance venues, such as Opera Holland Park and the Royal Opera House. Weekend activities and outings are available for students to help them relax and take a break from their training and schoolwork.
The school offers a Healthy Dancer Programme to ensure resilient, strong and nourished students. Students are also offered career planning for a career after dance in partnership with Dancers’ Career Development.
The school has over 100 students who are welcomed based on their talent and passion for ballet. Current dancers come from 17 countries around the world as the school believes that their programme should only be limited by a student’s drive and skill, not nationality. The school has an International Scholars Programme which gives special opportunities to exceptional individuals from outside of the UK who are not able to live abroad.
Boarding at the Royal Ballet School is split into 11-16 and 16-19, with boarding houses providing a safe and friendly environment for students to live while training for their dance careers. Students are separated into dorms by gender and age so that they can easily make friends. The boarding staff organise activities and outings during weekends to give the students some freedom and time to relax after a week of schoolwork.
You'll probably have many questions about the exciting times that lie ahead. We are here to reassure you and support your decision to educate your child in the UK.
