Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
Kingswood Senior and Prep School in Somerset, England.
“Igniting the potential in every child.”
Kingswood School develops confident, compassionate and enthusiastic young people who enjoy working with others and are pre-eminently prepared for the next steps at life. Our dedicated and experienced staff support and enable students in a nurturing enviroment that helps students to grow into well-rounded young adults.
This dedication is reflected in the outcomes of students’ learning: in 2025, 78% of GCSE grades were at 9-8 and 78% of all A-Level grades were A*-B. 95% of Kingswood students secure offers at their choice of university, with nearly three quarters attending Russell Group universities.
At Kingswood, students are encouraged to get involved with a variety of co-curricular activities. The school ensures that there is an activity for everyone, whether it be creative, academic or athletic. One example of this is the school’s excellent opportunities for drama, with three separate productions being put on every year along with clubs and local trips for students to participate in. Everyone is encouraged to try a musical instrument and there are various ensembles and orchestras for all age groups that put on concerts, allowing students to perform in front of an audience.
Sports are also readily available to students, as the school seeks to promote health and fitness. These include rugby, hockey, netball, tennis, swimming, cross country and rounders, amongst others. National and county success in rugby, hockey, netball and beyond is typical across many years.
Kingswood is a regional centre of excellence for the STEM Racing/ F1 in Schools programme having reached the national finals for the past 2 years. Our exciting robotics programme includes students making functioning Tamagotchi's or a speed drone, or using VEX IQ sets to build robotic vehicles. remote controlled vehicle club where students can make their own car or Drone etc from scratch. They are also collectively building a speed Drone, with the target of reaching 300mph or to build heir own Greenpower F24 electric racing car.
Kingswood School welcomes international students from over 20 countries into their boarding community. Overseas students make up about 14% of the student body and the majority of the boarding population. The school also provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes to students who are not fluent, ensuring that they can get the best British education possible at Kingswood.
Boarding at Kingswood consists of a tight-knit community of international and British students and pastoral staff. The Houseparents work to ensure that the boarders’ school experience is safe and enjoyable, with a range of weekend and after-school activities to participate in.
Weekend activities include trips to the cinema or hikes, or even days out shopping. All of this helps to create a home away from home environment where students can be themselves.
