Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
Kingswood Senior and Prep School in Somerset, England.
“We seek to encourage a real enthusiasm for learning and a spirit of enquiry.”
Kingswood School prides itself on supporting every student in their academic journey so that they can meet their own expectations and achieve their greatest aspirations. Their focus on cultivating a nurturing and supportive environment in learning helps students to grow into well-rounded young adults.
This dedication is reflected in the outcomes of students’ learning, with 77% of grades at GCSE falling in the A* - A range in 2021. Additionally, 61% of all grades at A Level were between A* and A with a 100% pass rate that same year.
At Kingswood, students are encouraged to get involved with a variety of co-curricular activities. The school ensures that there is an activity for everyone, whether it be creative, academic or athletic. One example of this is the school’s excellent opportunities for drama, with three separate productions being put on every year along with clubs and local trips for students to participate in. Everyone is encouraged to try a musical instrument and there are various ensembles and orchestras for all age groups that put on concerts, allowing students to perform in front of an audience.
Sports are also readily available to students, as the school seeks to promote health and fitness. These include rugby, hockey, netball, tennis, swimming, cross country and rounders, amongst others. Sporting facilities include the school's heated indoor swimming pool, with a number of pupils at Kingswood swimming at a national level.
Kingswood School welcomes international students from over 20 countries into their boarding community. Overseas students make up about 14% of the student body and the majority of the boarding population. The school also provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes to students who are not fluent, ensuring that they can get the best British education possible at Kingswood.
Boarding at Kingswood consists of a tight-knit community of international and British students and pastoral staff. The Houseparents work to ensure that the boarders’ school experience is safe and enjoyable, with a range of weekend and after-school activities to participate in.
Weekend activities include trips to the cinema or hikes, or even days out shopping. All of this helps to create a home away from home environment where students can be themselves.
You'll probably have many questions about the exciting times that lie ahead. We are here to reassure you and support your decision to educate your child in the UK.
