About Haberdashers' Monmouth School

Mission statement

“To provide a life-changing education to young people from all backgrounds in a grounded local community creating global citizens of the future.”

Academics

Academic rigour is extremely important to Haberdashers' Monmouth, and results are consistently high. With the majority of students getting their first-choice university and 60% of offers to Russell Group universities, the school recognises the importance of offering a broad range of subjects to its students.

Activities & sports

As well as the major sports of rugby, cricket, hockey, netball, football and rowing, the school offers athletics, swimming, tennis, basketball and kayaking. In addition, the ‘Monmouth 100’ is a unique programme of over 100 extra-curricular activities, ranging from bee-keeping and fencing to archery and cookery.

International student community

Haberdashers' Monmouth's international community is very well supported, both through its EAL programme and also with its Sixth Form Foundation Year programme, which is always very popular.

Boarding life

Boarding starts from Year 3 to Year 8 in the junior boarding house. From Year 9, students transfer to single-sex houses, in small dormitories or twin rooms, before they progress to single, ensuite rooms for Sixth Form.  There are no exeats, and boarders can go into the town of Monmouth at weekends. There is a weekend programme packed with activities and visits to local cities and areas of interest.
