Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
Forres Sandle Manor in Fordingbridge, England.
“We aim to help our children become kind, thoughtful and respectful citizens who will look forwards and outwards and be a positive force in society.”
The school creates an environment that actively encourages students to work hard, instilling within them a desire and drive to achieve excellence and reach their potential. Children work closely with staff to develop four key ‘learning powers’ - collaboration, communication, independence and cognition. Peer support is an important feature of the FSM curriculum by way of a formal student mentoring system. Children are encouraged to take age-appropriate responsibility for their own learning, which instils them with foundation skills to help them succeed in tomorrow's world. Pupils often progress to some of the UKs leading Senior Schools, such as Charterhouse, Malvern College and Harrow School.
Children are encouraged to explore their interests and by participating in an extensive range of co-curricular weekday and weekend activities. These activities are supplemented by exciting trips, such as the annual skiing break. Sports on offer include everything from hockey, netball, rugby and cricket to street dance and karate. Students are encouraged to develop their creativity by participating in the arts, and 75% of students play a musical instrument. Further enrichment activities range from Lego and Robotics Club to Cooking, Photography and Wild Art.
Forres Sandle Manor believes that their international community adds an important sense of diversity to the learning experience of all children. The school works hard to create a warm and welcoming community for international students. New international students will be given a buddy from their class to show them around and introduce them to staff and other students, helping the new starter quickly integrate into the school community. Buddies are usually boarders and will be with the new student after formal school hours. English as an Additional Language tutoring is available for non-native English speakers.
A significant portion of students aged 7-13 are boarders at Forres Sandle Manor. The school works hard to make sure that the boarding facilities are a comfortable and safe place to live, creating a home away from home for the children. Most school staff get involved with boarding in some way, ensuring that children are always well supported. Activities and trips are also organised for boarders after school and on weekends to strengthen the community and add variation to their educational experience.
You'll probably have many questions about the exciting times that lie ahead. We are here to reassure you and support your decision to educate your child in the UK.
