Edgeborough prides itself on its academic success, crediting its excellent teaching, resources and small class sizes. Children study a number of core subjects in purpose-built facilities and learning support is readily available, should this be required. The school works with students and their parents to develop children’s critical thinking and language skills from a young age, to ensure academic success. As a result, many students will progress onto some of the top senior schools in the UK, often through scholarship programmes.
Extra-curricular activities are an important part of life for students at Edgeborough. Children play ‘core sports’, including rugby, football, hockey, cricket, netball, lacrosse and rounders, but have the opportunity to participate in other sports, such as swimming, athletics, tennis, judo, cross country and climbing. Many of these sports are played against other schools at a competitive level.
The school also encourages students to get involved with the performing arts, hosting multiple musicals, dance shows and plays each year. Around 80% of students play a musical instrument and a host of choirs and bands are available for students to participate in.
An extensive range of other co-curricular clubs, such as chess, computing, tap dance and choir allow children to explore their individual interests and become well-rounded young adults.
The school welcomes international students, believing the boarding experience enhances the overall experience of pupils at the school. Edgeborough provides English as an Additional Language lesson to non-native English students so that they can develop their comprehension quickly and better integrate into the school community.
Boarding is at the heart of the community at Edgeborough, serving as a safe place for all students and bringing life and warmth to the school. There are sufficient facilities for 52 boarders and the boarding experience helps children prepare for life in senior school and beyond by teaching independence and personal responsibility. Boarding also ensures students become active members of the school community and make friendships that will last a lifetime.
