Academics

Clayesmore School ensures that their students are given the resources required to achieve academic excellence. Students pick up to nine GCSE options and can choose from 16 different A Level subjects and five Level 3 BTEC options. In 2021, more that 40% of GCSE students achieved an A* or A grade. In the same year, over 35% of A Level students scored between A* and A, with more than 65% of grades being B or above. Almost 70% of BTEC students achieved between D* and D. The school also offers an excellent support system for students with additional needs, such as Dyslexia.

Activities & sports

Clayesmore School believes that a one-size fits all approach to education is limiting and therefore activities and sport are an important part of the educational experience. Their main sports are rugby, hockey, and cricket for boys and hockey, netball and tennis for girls. The school offers many other sports, including equestrian, athletics, cricket and sailing; all sports are designed to enhance pupils' confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills. The school has access to an on-campus sports centre, an Astro pitch for hockey, eight tennis courts, rugby pitches and athletics facilities. The sports centre includes a sports hall, a four lane 25-meter pool, two squash courts, a gym space and fitness suite.

The school encourages creativity through the arts, providing opportunities to learn and perform through music, dance and drama. Over 70% of Prep students and the majority of Senior student learn a musical instrument, and students can participate in various orchestras, choirs, chamber music and jazz bands.  The school has a 160-seat theatre, putting on various drama productions each year; these creative opportunities have helped alumni gain roles in London’s West End and even with Oscars!

The senior school now offers the ‘LEX programme’ which aims to enrich students’ personal development through organised Saturday school activities. Activities include outdoor experiences, service opportunities, trips, lectures, specialist coaching and expeditions.

International student community

Clayesmore School prides itself on its diversity, welcoming students from all over the world. Fifteen percent of the student body are international students, which the school recognises as important for creating a tolerant and understanding school community. The school English as an Additional Language teaching, so that students can better utilise the skills they learn in class and be prepared for life after school.

Boarding life

Boarders at Clayesmore are part of a tight-knit community where they can build strong, life-long friendships. The school’s capable pastoral team are dedicated to making the students’ stay in boarding the best it can be, working to cultivate a fun and supportive environment so that everyone can thrive and exceed their potential. Many events are planned throughout the year to encourage socialising both within and between the boarding houses. The school hopes that boarders will graduate as capable and independent young adults with good values that will last a lifetime.
