Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
Bromsgrove Senior and Prep School in Worcestershire, England.
“Bromsgrove School aims to produce: Happy, creative, moral citizens who live motivated, fulfilled lives while enriching the lives of others. It seeks to achieve this through an enlightened, disciplined and broad education that responds to global change while retaining core values.”
The Curriculum is wide and varied, all GCSE pupils study the sciences as separate subjects and all study one or more modern foreign languages. In the Sixth Form, pupils can choose either the IB Diploma or A-levels. BTECs in Sports Performance and Business are also offered in the Sixth Form.
Bromsgrove's results are excellent, with an average IB score of over 39 points in the past few years. At A level, almost 60% of candidates attain a grade A*/A; with nearly 90% achieving A*/B. Most pupils continue to top UK and world universities such as UCL, Durham, Exeter, Bristol, Nottingham and overseas universities including USA, Canada and European destinations.
Bromsgrove boasts an extremely varied extra-curricular programme and pupils are encouraged to participate in activities ranging from creative arts, performing arts, additional sports and academic extension activities. Saturdays are spent on activities, with pupils being able to opt into up to three sessions - including fun activities such as horse riding, golf, jewellery making, computer programming and academic extension sessions. Boarder trips are organised on Sundays and may include the cinema, shopping, visits to theme parks or other cities, paintballing and more.
Sport at Bromsgrove is particularly strong with individuals and teams regularly reaching national finals in sports such as hockey, netball, rugby, swimming and cricket. The school also offers badminton, basketball, tennis, athletics, football and many more activity sports.
Bromsgrove has a vibrant arts scene with regular musical showcases for pupils to participate in, from small intimate concerts to large-scale choral and orchestral showpieces. Facilities include an acoustically fine Concert Hall as well as a separate theatre. The theatre boasts the most advanced lighting, sound and props facilities.
Bromsgrove welcomes pupils from across the world, with over 50 nationalities represented. International pupils are fully integrated into school life with the boarding houses made up of many different nationalities, alongside British boarders.
Bromsgrove has almost six hundred boarding pupils. The school has made significant investments in its buildings in recent years; all boarding houses are either new or have been fully renovated to the highest standards. Each house has resident Houseparents and a dedicated tutor team, and the staff are on hand 24/7. Bromsgrove also has a team of nurses who provide on-site medical care for boarders in the school’s modern health centre.
There are no exeats - the school is always open at weekends. Boarding pupils may stay at school during the holidays (except Christmas and the long summer break) under the care of our 'Guardian Angels'. Pupils are offered the chance to relax as they would at home, under supervision but with a relaxed atmosphere. Many pupils take the opportunity to cook themselves meals, spend time in the library studying, play sports in the school’s fantastic facilities, or just relax with other pupils. The Guardian Angels scheme is very popular with pupils and parents alike.
You'll probably have many questions about the exciting times that lie ahead. We are here to reassure you and support your decision to educate your child in the UK.
