About Bilton Grange School

Mission statement

“The primary aim of Bilton Grange is to provide a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment in which children can discover their talents, develop their potential, contribute to the community and lead happy, fulfilled lives."

Academics

Bilton Grange encourages independence and good learning habits early, believing that students with a love of learning will optimise their educational opportunities. The school offers a range of subjects including Classics, English, French, Geography, History, ICT, Maths, Religious Education and Science. While Bilton Grange caters to students of all abilities, it has a strong tradition of helping promising students to excel. Past students have been awarded scholarships at some of the top senior schools in the country.

Activities & sports

Bilton Grange gives all students the opportunity to participate in various activities and hosts the BiG Saturday curriculum enrichment programme for Prep students, which allows the children to explore interests in art, the environment, design, music and sport.

Throughout their school life, students can participate recreationally in sports such as swimming, golf, horse riding and racket sports and they may also compete in fixtures against other schools. The school has an impressive record in county, regional and national fixtures across many sports and age groups.

Believing in the importance of the performing arts for encouraging children’s creativity and building their confidence, the school encourages all students to participate in choirs, ensembles and musical productions. The school also puts on multiple plays and students can take music and speech and drama lessons from Year Two onwards. All students are encouraged to take part in productions through speaking roles on stage, helping with lighting and staging, and script writing.

International student community

Bilton Grange accepts students from around the world and welcomes them into its diverse and accepting school community. The school does everything in its power to ensure that every child’s school experience is the best it can be, regardless of where they are from or how long they will be staying in the country for. The school supports non-native English speaking children through their EAL (English as an Additional Language) programme, offering both individual and group lessons to best suit the child’s learning style. This programme helps students develop their English competency level quickly so that they can better integrate into the school community.

Boarding life

The boarding community at Bilton Grange is friendly and welcoming place for new boarders. The boarding houses are located in the main school building with houseparents and the school nurse living on site who keep in close contact with parents to help address any concerns which may arise. Additionally, a night matron ensures that pupils needs can be adequately attended to 24-hours a day. The Boarding Team ensure that the children remain healthy and happy during their time at Bilton Grange.
