Academic Families works with more than 450 schools throughout the UK, and we have become experts at matching children to the right boarding school for them in order to ensure each student thrives.
We're delighted to present one of our partner schools:
Bournemouth Collegiate Senior and Prep School in Dorset, England.
“To celebrate a culture of success where everyone strives to achieve academic excellence through endeavour and diligence. To foster a safe, happy and supportive environment where creativity, curiosity and freedom of spirit can flourish.”
Bournemouth Collegiate School (BCS) takes pride in its academic programme within which staff are dedicated to giving students the best educational experience possible. This was reflected in students’ final grades in 2021. In GCSE, 50% of grades given out were in the A* - A range, with 98% achieving a grade C or higher. In the same year, 57% of A Level students scored in the A* - A range, with 95% of grades being a C or above. Every year around 25% of students are accepted into Russell Group Universities, and 95% go on to Higher Education institutions.
Bournemouth Collegiate School promotes a healthy balance between academic studies and sports to nurture students into becoming well-rounded young adults. In the school’s sports' academies, students benefit from specialist fitness, performance, movement, physical and psychological support thanks to BCS’s partnership with AECC University College. This partnership provides sport science testing through their Sport Performance Centre.
BCS offers students opportunities to compete in badminton, basketball, football, rowing, rugby, tennis, triathlon and swimming. In all of these sports, students can compete at national levels, with one of the most successful academies being swimming. The Swimming Academy has produced national medalists annually since 2011. Additionally, Alice Tai represented Britain in the 2016 Rio Paralympics, leaving with a Gold and Bronze medal, as well as being part of the world-record-breaking relay team.
BCS welcomes students from a diverse range of backgrounds and emphasises tolerance for all regardless of differences in nationality or race. For international students who are not fluent in English, the school provides English as an Additional Language (EAL) classes in order to help students transition into a British school.
Boarding at BCS allows students to enter into a comfortable and welcoming community, making lifelong friends with those who they study and live with. A variety of trips and activities are provided to boarders after school and on weekends so that they can pursue their interests as they grow and discover themselves. Boarders come to BCS from a wide range of backgrounds, often being from different countries and of different religions. The school works to ensure that each student’s needs are met and everyone feels welcome.
