School Placement

British fee paying independent schools are sometimes called ‘public’ schools but are actually very private! They are open to all nationalities of students depending on satisfying their entrance criteria.

British government schools are called state schools and are not available to most international students.

British Boarding Schools can have different % of day, weekly and full boarders which will have implications for your child’s boarding experience. Some will specialise in sport, the arts or students with different learning styles.

Schools follow different curriculum – GCSE/IGCSE & A Levels, IB, Highers & Advanced Highers or Cambridge Pre U – all of which will enable students to apply to all British universities and most international universities depending on their grades.

Whatever your child’s interests and abilities there will be a school just right for them.

Boarding school senior entry points are typically Year 9 (13 years+) and Sixth Form/Year 12 (16 years+) but other entries can be considered on an individual basis.

All schools are inspected regularly – if they are members of the Independent Schools Council then they will be inspected by them otherwise they will be inspected by the government’s educational inspection service OFSTED (Office for Standards in Education) and reports are available online for review.
